Update #5 ~ 12:25 AM
OK. Fam, time for me to get some shut eye. We are still waiting on results for PA, GA, MN, MI, WI, AZ, and NV.
In terms of the Senate, Republicans picked up 2 seats; Sherrod Brown lost his seat in OH. The Republican candidate picked up a seat in WV.
The current count in the House is:
Republicans: 183
Democrats: 153
There will be several house races in California that still need to be counted.
I will provide an update in the morning.
Update #4 ~ 11:42 PM
It looks like North Carolina has been called for Trump. There is still a pathway for Harris if she is able to win the blue wall states (Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania). Georgia, Arizona, Minnesota, and Nevada have not been called yet. Sit tight. Drink. Hydrate. Pray. Bring out the holy oil. I’ll do one more update around 12:30 AM and then I’m going to bed!!
Update #3 ~ 10:00 PM
Are your nerves shot??? Remember . . .
- Drink!!
- There is a possibility that we may not know the winner tonight, similar to 2020.
- As Maya and Madam VP said on SNL, keep Kamala and Carry-on-a-la.
- The battleground states are close. Don’t panic if the lead fluctuates back and forth. Woosah!!
Update #2 ~ 9:00 PM
Several polls for states have closed and the update for the electoral count is above. Several “too close to call” and “too early to call” for these states.
For the North Carolina Governor’s race, Josh Stein has defeated the Black-Nazi-Posting-Messages-On-A-Porn-Message-Board Lt. Governor, Mark Robinson!!! GLORAYYYYY!!!
Democrat Lisa Blunt Rochester made herstory, becoming the first Black woman elected to the Senate from the state of Delaware!
Update #1 ~ 8:00 PM
It’s 8:00 PM! I got my liquor, snacks, laptop, and phone. And water! Can’t forget the water. It’s gonna be a long night, so pace yourself. Especially if you didn’t follow my advice and take tomorrow off.
We have a few state calls (see above). Nothing unexpected so far. We will see results trickle in for Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina, three of the key battleground states. There are still voters in lines in several states and as long as the voter is in line, they will be able to vote. Unfortunately there were also hoax bomb threats called into some Georgia polling locations, causing them to close temporarily. We’ll have to exercise some patience as votes trickle in.
Waiting for my nerd bae, Steve Kornacki, to update the whiteboard like . . .
