senate

The current makeup of the Senate is 49 Republicans, 47 Democrats, and  4 Independents (Bernie Sanders and Angus King who caucus with the Democrats, Krysten Sinema and Joe Manchin who used to be “Democrats”, *I use the term loosely*). If there is a tie, Kamala Harris as President of the Senate has the tie-breaking vote.

For the 2024 elections, there are 34 Senate races.

20 seats are currently held by Democrats

10 seats are currently held by Republicans.

4 seats are currently held by Independents

Now it’s time for some math . . . .

Wait! Why you gotta bring math into this? This is politics.

Because, at the end of the day . . . it’s all about the math.

You not gonna make us solve some math problems are you?

I might.

Ok, so back to the Senate. Below you will find a map of the Senate races and a table that lists the state, the candidates, the 2024 projection, and any notes. Some races that are expected to be very close are Ohio, Montana, and Texas. There are opportunities in Maryland and Delaware to make Senate history, by electing just the third and fourth African American women to be elected,  Angela Alsobrooks and Lisa Blunt Rochester. Colin Allred is in a tight race against Ted Cruz in Texas. Y’all, let’s send Ted Cruz back to Cancun. For good.
